Wall Panels for Media Walls: A Practical Buying Guide

Create a TV feature wall with panels from The British Manor. Start with your wall measurements, the television position and the finish you want, then plan the practical details before ordering.

Choose your finish

Oak slatted panels bring warmth to neutral interiors. Smoked walnut gives a deeper, richer look, while black panels create a darker backdrop. Wavy and multi-width panels add texture. Marble-effect and metallic acoustic panels offer a more decorative finish.

Plan the size and layout

You can panel the whole wall or create a narrower feature behind the television. Measure the width of the area you want to cover and check your ceiling height against the product dimensions. Lay out joints and cuts before fixing panels.

For a 300cm-wide area, 60cm-wide panels require 5 panels before allowing for cuts, assuming no overlap. Read our measuring guide for packs, waste and taller walls.

TVs, fireplaces and lighting

Fix the television bracket into a suitable structural support, not just decorative panels. Follow the TV manufacturer's ventilation instructions and retain access to sockets and cables.

Where a fireplace or heat source is involved, follow its specified clearances and material requirements. Do not assume decorative panels are fire-rated or suitable close to heat. Use a qualified installer where needed.

If adding LED lighting, check compatibility, cable routes and driver access before fitting. Electrical work should be carried out by a suitably qualified person where required.
